From Douban:

Original post can be found here.

10 CDs I can't tired of recently

I mean, not only is the music itself appealing, but the entire production itself is as serious as it gets. You can make good music with shitty recording, but in this day and age where you can afford to do it at a reasonable cost, then go out there by all means.

1. Stacey Kent - Breakfast on a Morning Tram

2. Khalil Fong - Love, Love, Love

3. Khalil Fong - Wonderland

4. Khalil Fong - Orange Moon

5. Joanna Wang - Start From Here

6. Crowd Lu - 100 Styles of Life

7. Diana Krall - Live in Paris

8. Diana Krall - When I Look Into Your Eyes

9. Lisa Ekdahl - Give Me That Knowing Smile

10. CMCD001

Music updates

Dear readers,

Sorry for not having updated for a long time. You will know why in a short period of time. Something big will come out! Big!

Superband was a great concert. It's some of the best music I've heard in awhile. These 4 gentlemen each had different things to offer: Emil - consistency, Jonathan - raw energy, A-Yue - youth and explosiveness, Lo Sa Yau - nostalgic Taiwanese sound from the 80's. When you get 4 of them together, you get a true live band sound.

There were some relatively new songs and unknown songs. The new and title song "亡命之徒" is indeed of high quality.

The band is led by Jonathan Lee's designated Malaysian musicians with bandleader Mac Chew and second keyboard Jenny Chin, Andy Peterson on bass, etc. Fantastic group. The guitar was a bit too loud to my taste.

The highlight of the night was "Queen's Road East." The crowd went nuts. And one can see each musician had a certain number of fans in the audience. What a show!

Who in HK can form such an awesome lineup? Eason, Jacky, Lam & Teddy Robin? One would reckon....

Lisa Ekdahl's new CD came out. It's really fantastic and one should support. If you're a fan, then it's a must buy.

My interview with Khalil Fong has arrived. Check it out here. It's one of my favorite interviews. This guy loves music, which I admire!

Enjoy!

Happy Ching Ming!

Khalil's back!

I think I might be one of the first people to review "Orange Moon" on the internet. Not really a review, more of an appreciation entry. Yes, it might be a good Christmas present for you love ones. Get this on CD now! Don't download!

In the liner notes, Soulboy has a little missive to Edward and Charles that this is his favorite project to date. Must be true. It's a soothing album that will definitely put you in a good mood. That's what Khalil's all about. Always moody.

Khalil stunned me with "Love, Love, Love." I was in awe of his talent. With this album (which doesn't have any stunning effect), he does what he does best, and this time he's not afraid to imitate Stevie Wonder right out ("If Love"). He even admits he needs to thank the master cuz he mentions him in all his interviews.

This is truly an inspirational album. This will go well with a Dark Cherry Mocha at Starbucks!

Khalil is no longer a best kept secret in HK, Taiwan, and mainland. He's now a brand name of high quality music.

I am frank to admit I don't listen to anyone in HK except Khalil Fong.

More on Khalil Fong...

I said I was mercifully attacked and sucked it by Khalil Fong's music lately. His song "Love, Love, Love" is a really beautiful tune that defies all logic and gravity. Regardless of what language it is in, it's just a purely perfect song. To put it more blatantly and conventionally, it's world-class.

There are two comments by bloggers which I absolutely agree. They speak my heart.

What a song to start the holiday season!
