The "dark side" is part of being human, and it is very much a part of our world. To fear it is to fear a part of yourself. Much better to examine it through play and play-acting as a child for one day a year and see that, really, there isn't so much to fear. Love will always be greater than fear, hatred and death, even if, in the limited picture this does not appear to be true. I would also argue to Christians that, if everything is from God and of God as you argue, what is there to fear? Think of it as the innocence of children infiltrating the dark and scary aspects of life and transforming them through play and imagination. Why does that sound so scary?

Yep. My church is one of those hosting a party. It's great fun! Nice, safe, warm(!) place for the kids to run around, show of their costume and mingle with other kids. I myself plan on wearing my pirate dress ;)
I think some people just aren't happy and go out of their way to drag as many other people down with them as possible. Just like so many other things, in celebrating Halloween, what is YOUR INTENT?! And who are these naysayers people to be the judge? Pff... I think they've just forgotten how to have fun...

if you are turned into a satan worshiper from halloween or from reading harry potter books, there's probably some underlying issues that need to be addressed beyond the immediate ones. :-P

First of all, not ALL children dress up as "witches and devils." I've seen some creative custumes as Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Joker, Batman, Bugs Bunny, and a butcher with a huge belly.
I don't think the answer is 明明白白，清清楚楚. God gives us free will. We're free to use it. If the intention is to have fun and not to hurt anybody, I don't think God will interfere.
In my opinion, I think God would be more upset that some Christians spend their time and energy standing on higher moral grounds judging and bashing a harmless festival than using their time focusing on how to spread the gospel of love on earth.
When a child comes tricking a treating on your door, you show your love not by telling her to get rid of her pumpkin costume, but to give her a smile, hand out your candy and say "Happy Halloween!"
I think that's what Jesus would do!

Halloween is a fun festival! Live with it!
I've been reading a few articles about how Halloween is Satan's festival, many of which talk about the origins of Halloween as an evil feast and its negative aspects. In a recent article published by Kingdom Revival Post, borrowing an entry from Omega Times, it stated "萬聖節是屬撒旦的，我們應視之為瘟疫，亦要提醒別人。" After reading these misleading entries, I'm compelled to chip in my two cents.
Halloween has origins in the ancient celtic festival known as Samhain, which is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end". A similar festival was held by the ancient Britons and is known as Calan Gaeaf. The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half", and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year".
Indeed, Halloween has religious undertones. In the Anglican Church, some dioceses have chosen to emphasize the Christian traditions of All Saints' Day, while some other Protestants celebrate the holiday as Reformation Day, a day to remember the Protestant Reformation.
In fact, the Halloween tradition is far from being "satanic" in origin or practice and that it holds no threat to the spiritual lives of children: being taught about death and mortality, and the ways of the Celtic ancestors actually being a valuable life lesson and a part of many of their parishioners' heritage.
We, as Christians, should ascribe no negative significance to Halloween. We should treat it as a purely secular holiday devoted to celebrating "imaginary spooks" and handing out candy to childrem. Halloween celebrations are common among Roman Catholic parochial schools throughout North America and in Ireland. In fact, the Roman Catholic Church sees Halloween as having a Christian connection. Father Gabriele Amorth, a Vatican-appointed exorcist in Rome, has said, "[I]f English and American children like to dress up as witches and devils on one night of the year that is not a problem. If it is just a game, there is no harm in that."
Upon close inspection, Halloween is completely incompatible with the Christian faith due to its origin as a pagan "Festival of the Dead." In more recent years, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has organized a "Saint Fest" on the holiday. Many contemporary Protestant churches view Halloween as a fun event for children, holding events in their churches where children and their parents can dress up, play games, and get candy.
Therefore, I regard Halloween as harmless, secular, and a fun holiday. Going to haunted houses and be sacred by ugly creatures should be regarded as a leisurely pastime and not an opportunity for Satan to spread his evildoings. Giving out candy to infant trick-or-treaters is a tradition that should be welcomed and endorsed to foster friendly atmosphere during festival times. Most of all, it's just a cute thing to do!
Why spend time discussing all the negative aspects of a largely fun and trivial festival while we can use this time to give back to the society by doing more meaningful things?
As children do have fun during Halloween, why don't we adults grow up?

一種開放人生態度，其實也提醒我們，人生不是只有黑與白，信仰也不只是一堆招式，彷彿照辦煮碗就能天下無敵。想起金庸小說《笑傲江湖》，華山派太師叔風清揚傳授令狐沖「獨孤九劍」，最重要不是死記招式，甚至不是各招融會貫通；最高是出手無招，臨場按對手弱點出招。「根本無招，如何可破？」在令狐沖眼前出現了一個生平未見、造夢也想不到的新天地。由此，他出劍能料敵先機，戰勝「萬里獨行」田伯光的快刀。
出手無招，要求是一份創造力。惟有開放的人生態度，才能留有空間，讓人能聆聽、觀察，對準處境需要創造招式，那怕看起來笨拙，卻是有功效的。
這些日子，我在你們身上看到很多美好素質，深信這是上帝在你們中間的恩典。看到大家對事奉的投入，所花力氣好像比我那年代的少團導師有過之而無不及；看見大家認真投入信仰，讓我感動。但同時，我又看到理想與現實的落差：我們追求生命改變，嘗試努力處理生命裡的重要問題，卻每每舉步為艱，容易落在期望與失望循環中。
這時，我想到傳道書這經文。無疑，追求百尺竿頭、更進一步的志氣是不可少，但也要面對人生很多「未必」如願的現實。這不是消極，而是一種開放的人生，以致我們能適當時候放自己一馬、放別人一馬，甚至容許自己有時「交行貨」。
開放的人生，更重要是留下空間，給上帝工作，相信聖靈會帶領我們，在限制中，能對準處境，創造新招，不用一味以快打快，疲於奔命。

《鐘聲》的音樂元素非常豐富，它把不同的音樂風格共冶一爐，還找來一班分量級的樂手，包括Howard McCrary、Eugene Pao、Ted Lo、Barry Chung等等，再加上世界一流製版大師Greg Calbi於美國Sterling Sound製版，令整張碟的音色發揮得淋漓盡致，立體而剔透。
整張專輯傳遞著一個重要訊息，就是愛與公義，包括Urban Rhythm & Blues風格的主打歌《鐘聲》，是提醒我們當聽到鐘聲響起，便應該放下忙碌的工作，去關心身邊的人；Hip Hop/Rap的〈行公義、好憐憫〉是探討基督徒的真正使命，能否領略「WWJD（What would Jesus do?）」的真諦。
作為一張福音唱片，音樂質素之高，個人認為是物超所值，而且充滿驚喜，原來福音樂曲不一定是「娘」（老土），也可以演繹得如此新穎，簡直叫人眼界大開。

最近忙得像欠卡數一樣，工序總是永遠也做不完，而且更有越做越多之勢，永遠也還不清一樣。所以即使有不少blog的題材，也暫時只能存在於心裡，到某一天還記得的話再寫吧。
卡數的其中一樣是團契的壁報板(當然，其他的還有更多)。這年度團契的主題是「行公義 好憐憫」，我立即就想起了這首歌出來︰
鍾氏兄弟幾個月前推出的「鐘聲 The Chimes」大碟可說是我目前最喜愛的基督教歌曲大碟，歌手唱功根基固然厲害，而且碟內歌曲風格有十多種之多，聽來卻又令人感到十多種風格能融在一起，不會突兀。其中一首「行公義、好憐憫」就是在叫我們多關心身邊的人和事，多行公義和好憐憫。

由鍾一匡、鍾一諾兩兄弟聯同一眾資深音樂人及樂手精心炮製的福音唱片《鐘聲》再創新峰，近日傳出獲五項「2009 CASH 金帆音樂獎」提名，狀態甚勇。
五項獲提名的獎項包括CASH最佳歌曲大獎(鐘聲)、最佳旋律(鐘聲 曲: 鍾一諾)、最佳歌詞(夢想…有一天 詞: 鍾一諾/鍾一匡)、最佳合唱演繹(赤子之心 羅敏莊/鍾一諾)及最佳男歌手演繹(鐘聲 鍾一諾)。
從數百首流行歌曲中被挑選入圍實非易事。鍾一匡表示，《鐘聲》所有提名的項目均入圍，實要感謝首輪評審員團給予機會。
鐘一匡坦言，他們雖然對得獎沒有很大信心，但是對能被提名已感到很榮幸。
他表示CASH是本港甚具公信力、並且得音樂人尊重的機構，有一定影響力。說：「能獲得提名已是很難得，並且是很大的榮耀——這一定是上帝的工作。」又表示很榮幸能與樂壇的前輩人物如潘源良等同在提名名單上。
鐘一匡又認為，《鐘聲》獲提名，有助推動基督教音樂在流行樂壇發光作鹽，並讓更多人對福音音樂有更多認識，意義不凡。
《鐘聲》於今年7月推出後，聽眾反應熱烈。推出僅一個月便迅速佔領HMV及各大基督教書室CD銷售榜榜首，並且第一版及第二版已售罄，現正加出第三版。

最近買咗兩隻新碟, 真係超超超超超超超超超正呀! 呢兩隻碟都係基督教albums, 但有別於一般嘅現代詩歌, pop味比較重, 但絕對係高質素!!
呢兩隻碟係徐偉賢嘅「Never say Never 」同 鍾氏兄弟嘅「 The Chime鐘聲」。 兩隻碟都包含不同嘅音樂種類, 有騷靈, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Rap 等, 有創作, 有re-create, 有融入, 將現代同傳統/古典, 非常好玩又悅耳動聽, 歌詞都好到肉, 又令人感動。 我覺得兩隻碟嘅歌未必適合敬拜or領詩時合唱, 但絕對係replace pop music嘅好選擇! 不要光把聽歌時間淨係俾晒飛輪海棒棒堂GEM陳柏宇周柏豪HotCha......
真係知道乜叫有音樂恩賜。

九月不乏具份量的唱片面世，而能夠成功取得廿五位樂迷或以上投票的唱片僅有四張，亦就是份量最重的那四張，分別為陳奕迅【上五樓的快活】、Mr.【If I am…】、蘇打綠的【夏．狂熱】及Swing的【武當】。分數最高的一張是陳奕迅【上五樓的快活】，有9.0，但僅得廿五人投票；最受歡迎的唱片則為蘇打綠的【夏．狂熱】，一個月內有五十七人投選，達8.5高分。
至於所有專輯中，鍾氏兄弟的福音大碟【鐘聲】仍佔榜首之餘，更僅在九月內增六十一人評分，平均分為9.2，看來3C讀者有很多都是【鐘聲】的支持者。陳偉霆William的【Warrior】多了七人評分，比上個月再下跌0.1分，僅得3.2分，難得地低分。

一向不是本土基督教音樂的fans
買碟向來是買來佬貨，或那廂大江大海的作品
對本地的作品，很少支持
（除非係識得friend 出碟啦）
無他，因為覺得本地製作的編曲好 gross
硬係覺得老老套套，好80's（我成日都係咁comment的）
（我諗係要就個老老套套既基督教market啦）
最近，這個情況被兩張碟打破
一是家姐妍的《妍亮shine》...
另一隻是鍾一匡鍾一諾的《鐘聲》
雖然D歌內容有D都係有D odd
但音樂好好，製作真係一流
齋聽樂器都抵返
有人甚至comment 話佢地係
'HK's own "buena vista social club"'
怪唔知係 HMV 上到 jazz/easy listening 第三
這算是本地基督教音樂的record 喇
